Pitcher Josh Pifke (Fr. West Iron, MI) is the only reliever to pick up a victory this season,
he is 4-0. The other 6 wins were by starters. Two of his wins were in relief of Kris Koester (So. Gwinn, MI) who
is the only starter other than Dave Glavin (Fr. Nacedah, WI) to not have a win.
Centerfielder Brandon Wislocki (So. Garden Grove, CA) has reached base at least twice in every game except the
second game of the Moorhead St double header when he went 0 for 4. Though Catcher Dave Vincent (Fr. Bay City, MI)
finished serving his suspension with the second game of the Alaska Anchorage doubleheader, he did not make it back
to the lineup until tonight's game against Cleveland Institute of Arts. Manager Rob Preseau started Jody Davis
(Sr. Buffalo Gorve, IL) during that span due to excellent hitting by Davis during Vincent's absense.
Utility man Tom Bates (Sr. Hometown unknown) did not return with the team from Alaska due to legal trouble
encountered on the trip. No other information is available at this time. Preseau declined to comment on the
situation. Preseau's brief experiment with allowing Dave Peck (So. Johanasburg, MI) to act as DH and closer
seems to be at an end. Peck is hitting just .130 and reached base just three times during the road trip to
Alaska.
The Wildcats haven't seen their own beds in a while. After leaving for Alaska April 6, they have already
taken eight flights and a long bus ride, with visits to the airports of Sawyer, MI, Detroit, Seattle,
Anchorage, Fairbanks, Minneapolis, and Pelston, MI. Things do not get easier from here.
They will fly to Buffalo immediately after the GLIB title game against NCMC, then fly home Sunday night
to face UW Fox Valley in a doubleheader Monday evening. Between games Monday, the Wildcats will honor
baseball pitcher C. W. Mayher (Sr. Oscoda, MI) and softball pitcher Nicole Barnes (Fr. Escanaba, MI).
Both Mayher and Barnes threw no-hitters April 5. Mayher allowed just an error and three walks in his home
victory over Moorhead St.
Barnes struck out 12 in her perfect game victory at Citadel. Mayher set a school record April 10 with 20
consecutive innings without a hit, dating back to last season's GLIAC title win over Indianapolis. Barnes
equaled the mark the following day by pitching 8 no-hit innings of a 10 inning win over VMI.
