Road Trip- The NMU baseball team went 2-2 on their Spring Break Road Trip to California.
After losing the first two games to UC Santa Cruz and Chaminade, the 'Cats came back to beat UC Merced twice.
Snowed Out- The exhibition game scheduled for Friday in Madison, Wisconsin against the Division I Wisconsin Badgers
was cancelled due to snowfall. It is the first weather cancellation the 'Cats have had since 1997 when snow put a halt to
a double header at Michigan Tech. The game will likely not be rescheduled due to Wisconsin's busy Big Ten schedule. NMU
hopes to put UW Madison on the schedule next year.
The Golden State- NMU is now 2-4 against teams from California in the team's history. They lost a tough 5-0
decision to Sutters Mill Teachers College in the semifinals of the 1984 East-West challenge series. They also lost
at Kowbawgam Field to Cal State Compton in March 1920 by a score of 2-1.
Golden Brothers- The Wislocki's struck again in the California road trip. Brandon Wislocki sparked the rally
in the first game against UC Merced. The brothers were a combined 15 for 33 during the four game road trip with a
total of 6 stolen bases, four of those from Brandon.
Aloha- Freshman pitcher Brian Salisbury had a better scouting report than the rest of his team for the 'Cats
second game of the trip. The Honolulu native had been recruited heavily by his neighborhood university out of high
school. "Chaminade is just down the street," Salisbury said. "I grew up going to their games. I know everything about
every Silverswords team to take the field since I was eight. I know their coach very well. I played in high school with
some of their players. It was really creepy to be playing against them."
Missing Player- Catcher Dave Vincent did not report for the Chaminade game and has not been seen since. He did
not make the trip back to Marquette. "We are kind of worried," Manager Rob Preseau said. "We have to have a catcher
and we'd like Dave to show up eventually." Kyle Flak has started since Vincent's disappearance.
Home Sweet Dome- NMU returns to the Superior Dome for a five game home stand against Alaska Fairbanks, Alaska
Anchorage, and Alaska Pacific. The 'Cats traveled to the 49th state in 2001, and those three teams are returning the favor..
