The Wildcats opened their two game stand in Washington, DC with a big win over NDU. The 'Cats got the scoring
under way in the top of the first as Brandon Wislocki tripled the second pitch he saw into the gap in left-center.
His brother Bryan drove him home with a sacrifice bunt, before Ken Kwarciany drove the first pitch he saw 375
feet over the right field wall making the score 2-nothing with just one out.
The Wildcats broke the scoring open by batting around in the fifth. Eric Ingles reached base with a lead off
strike out when Generals catcher Grant Sherman dropped the third strike. Brandon Wislocki drove him home with
a double. Dave Vincent drove two more home with a double. The Wildcats plated five runs in the inning to open
a 7-1 lead. They would score once more in the eighth when Brandon Wislocki singled and stole second and third
and scored on a catchers interference call during an attempted steal of home.
James Haas closed out the scoring with a lead off home run in the ninth. Wildcats pitching was
spectacular
all day. Chris Bing scattered three hits over seven innings of work, striking out six and walking just one.
Josh Pifke was excellent in relief, retiring the side with eight pitches. Closer Dave Peck struck out two of
the four batters he faced to end the game in the ninth. In a game in which the Wildcats reached base all seven
possible ways, five General pitchers were driven from the mound. Three men worked the fifth inning alone.
"Our bats came alive today," Manager Rob Preseau said. "We got off to a great start and never looked back."
Brandon Wislocki had another great game at the plate, going 3 for 5 with four stolen bases, an RBI, and three
runs scored. Thanks to the pitchers, those runs were more than enough.
"I just felt good out there today," starter Chris Bing said. "I've been waiting for this season to get started,
and now that it has I just want to be the best pitcher I can be."
The Wildcats have one more game on this road trip, tomorrow night against Trinity College, before opening the
home portion of their season Thursday against Moorhead State.
