The NMU Wildcats swept a doubleheader from Alaska Anchorage, but it wasn't easy. UAA ran up four runs in the bottom of the first to drive Chris Bing from the mound. Vinnie Davidson was able to hold the Seawolves off for three innings before three hits with none out in the fifth drove him from the mound. UAA lead 7-1 when Josh Pifke took the mound, but he teamed up with Dave Peck to shut them down.

The two Wildcats hurlers allowed just 2 hits, and no runs, between them. Offensively, the Wildcats scattered a run each in the 4th, 6th, and 8th innings before the floodgates opened in the ninth. After Brandon Wislocki reached first on a fielders choice, he stole second, then scored on a single by Bryan Wislocki.

After Dave Peck singled, Ken Kwarciany drove in both runs with a triple. Clay Roth and Jody Davis were walked intentionally. James Hass then delivered the death knell to Alaska Anchorage with a base-clearing single to make the scored 9-7. Peck struck out the side in the ninth to drive the Wildcats record on the season to 6-0.

In game two, the Wildcats jumped out to an early lead. Kwarciany lead off the fourth with a solo homer. Six batters later Brandon Wislocki deflated the Seawolves hopes with a grand slam, his first home run of the season. But the bullpen could not hold the lead. Kris Koester allowed 3 runs in the eighth to make the lead 5-4.

The Seawolves tied the game in the ninth with a run on four straight singles. Jason Paul saved the game by gunning down UAA Catcher Mike Hammond at the plate following the final base hit, sending the game to extra innings. The 'Cats had runners on the corners in the 11th, but could not break through. UAA loaded the bases with no one out in the bottom of that inning, but a diving catch in shallow right field by Eric Ingles sparked a triple play.

In the 12th inning, Brandon Wislocki walked and stole second, then scored on a single by Jody Davis. Davis then scored on singles by Kwarciany and Justin Young. Despite a solo home run, Pifke held out to close game two for his second victory of the season.

"We usually depend on our pitching, but today we had to depend on good hitting and our lineup came through," Manager Rob Preseau said. "I'm proud of the way our team didn't give up in the first game, and the way they kept their cool in game two." The Wildcats remain in Anchorage to play Alaska-Pacific tomorrow.
