Wildcats find luck on Friday the 13th. The NMU Baseball team took home the title of the Great Lakes Invitational of
Baseball by knocking off host North Central Michigan College in a huge offensive
explosion.
Brandon Wislocki hit for the cycle and drew a walk in five plate appearances. He got things going immediately
in the top of the first with a single. He scored on a single by Bryan Wislocki. In all, three runs were in
before a single Wildcat was retired. NMU plated five runs in an inning where 11 batters came to the plate.
Brandon Wislocki struck again with a lead-off double in the fourth, then scored on a double by Young.
He tripled in the sixth and scored on a sacrifice fly by Young. In the eighth, Jason Paul singled and stole
second before Brandon Wislocki homered to the short porch in left. Chris Bing and Dave Peck combined to shut
down the Snowbirds with 17 strike outs, allowing just 3 hits and a run.
In an effort to get both Young and Ken Kwarciany in the lineup, Young has been moved to third base and it
seems to be working out well, as he was perfect in four chances at the hot corner, including a double play.
The Wildcats now fly to Buffalo, NY to face the Division I Bulls.
