The 2002 Season continued to build upon the previous years championship team. After graduating many of the stars of the 2001 championship team, the underclassmen stepped up to prove they were just as good as their graduating counterparts. The marketing campaign for this season echoed this with "Get to Know 'Em," emphasizing upon all the changes and new faces. 

2002 also served as a year for change among the GLIAC-Superiorland Baseball Conference as past conference member Indianapolis withdrew their membership from the conference. Replacing the Greyhounds were three very unlikely but very capable schools: Bay De Noc, Kettering University, and the University of Wisconsin Marinette. The subtraction and additions expanded the Superiorland division from six to eight teams.
